Lyme disease has, for many years, been steeped in controversy, with doctors
sharply divided with regard to diagnosis, treatment and long-term prognosis.

Lyme disease is a tick-borne, multi-systemic bacterial infection which has
proven difficult to diagnose and treat in many patients. While early, adequate
treatment can limit the risk of long-term problems, Lyme disease is a serious
